Clinician-led innovation – how do we tap into the talent at our healthcare ‘frontlines’?
Australia has many internationally renowned clinical experts that work in a sophisticated clinical environment. Our healthcare system has high standards of care and widespread use of high-end medical devices and diagnostics. Our clinicians are at the front line, using these devices daily and identifying opportunities for improvement and new solutions. This fireside chat chaired by Dr Judy Halliday, Director, Industry Development, TechInSA, will not only highlight some successful clinician-led innovation case studies but will also delve into some of the limitations that exist and explore opportunities to support entrepreneurial clinicians in Australia. Hear from Professor John Greenwood, Director, Adult Burn Service, Royal Adelaide Hospital; Dr Anabela Correia, CEO Livac Pty Ltd; and Dr Malcolm Pradhan, Chief Medical Officer, Alcidion Ltd.
Attracting talent and building your team
Human capital is often referred to as a company’s greatest asset. However, engineering your medtech talent is not always straightforward. This panel will explore skills shortages in medtech in Australia, embracing flexible work arrangements, using incentives to get the best people on your team, and personal experience from leaders who have built effective teams in the medtech space. Chaired by Jane Kelly, CEO CMAX, this will be a session not to miss.

A significant trend in healthcare innovation is the combining of different medical technologies to deliver more effective products, drive product enhancements or to create completely new product types. The convergence of technologies such as AI, robotics and data analytics, as well as new advances in drug delivery and surface modification technologies with traditional devices has, and will continue to, disrupt healthcare as we know it. Our panel will examine this fast-moving space and explore the implications of technology convergence and why medical device companies cannot afford to ignore it.
