A Christmas message from TechInSA
The TechInSA Christmas networking event, held last Tuesday evening with HealthInSA and AusBiotech, brought together nearly 250 people from the South Australian high-tech sector to celebrate the close of another successful year. Attendees were treated to five short presentations as part of the “Three Minutes of Fame Showcase” covering apps, awards, company highlights and even Santa’s parking tickets! Congratulations to all the presenters. The night highlighted the strength and cohesiveness of the South Australian high-tech sector and was enjoyed by all.
2016 has been a very successful year for many and as always the achievements of our high-tech sector are attributable to the hard work and commitment of each of the technology companies that make up the industry. I thank each of you for your dedication to growing successful South Australian businesses.
TechInSA is happy to be able to facilitate the growth of this sector. This year we have done this by assisting a large number of South Australian companies; part of which included providing 20 grants totalling over $2M. This assistance has supported the sector in both innovation and early commercialisation.
TechInSA reached approximately 3,500 people through the 26 events held throughout the year including, for the first time in Adelaide, AusMedtech. This conference has set the scene for Adelaide to host the AusBiotech National Conference in October 2017.
The expansion of the TechInSA remit announced in August this year was enhanced by the announcement of the doubling of available grants through the launch of the South Australian Early Commercialisation Fund (SAECF) on 18 November. Together these two factors will allow us to continue to support the sector, and we are excited to continue this charter in 2017.
Congratulations to everyone for their hard work and achievements in 2016. On behalf of the team at TechInSA I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy, safe and prosperous New Year.
Dr Meera Verma,
Acting Chief Executive
